This week we have had a really unique and special delivery from the factory in Bäckefors. Two Mowi 1450 WD trailers with P51 cranes and accessories were to be loaded for transport to our customer Teca GKM in Panama.
Getting this into a 40-foot container was a real challenge in terms of both planning and loading. The design team first made a 3D packing model to get the most optimal packing possible.
The critical factor was the height of the container, so we had to specially order smaller steel wheels from our supplier Brålanda Industri to replace the regular wheels. In addition, the cranes had to be dismantled from the crane pallet.
When packing, the cranes were loaded on one trailer, while all the stakes and 4 of the 10 wheels were loaded on trailer two. In addition to the trailers, we also loaded a pallet with equipment (grapples, drive shafts and some accessories) and 2 pallets with another 6 wheels.
When the truck arrived, we were a team that was prepared to load according to instructions we had developed, all goods were strapped in place in the container both down to the floor and up to the ceiling to cope with a possible “rollover”.
Loading took just under 2 hours and the truck left Bäckefors with destination Gothenburg. The boat to Panama leaves the port of Gothenburg the 14th of December with scheduled arrival in Cristobal, Panama is 5 January 2025.
